Hanami 2022

The Japanese Cultural Center and the Consul General and his office came to the Japanese Garden to celebrate Hanami--the Cherry Blossoms--on May 1. The cherry trees around the Columbian Basin were still beautiful.

The Consul General of Japan opened the festival in the garden's pavilion. Here he is standing on the left as the Park District and Japanese Cultural Center people who made it all possible are introduced.

His office had a booth on the path to the gate.

The dancers performed the traditional hanami dance.

Here is a taste of the performance.

Two different groups of drummers performed. This is the group that performed at noon.

The Japanese Cultural Center also taught origami and haiku.

The line was long to get into the small garden, but at least it was lovely--worth painting!
